Two reasons why you can't start a LIVE on TikTok
The vast majority of TikTok users are teenagers. Due to legal issues and the safety of minors, some functions of the application are blocked depending on the age of the user.
TikTok may be legally used by persons over the age of 13. Accounts suspected of being over-aged may be deleted. The exceptions are some countries, such as the USA, where is a special, limited version for younger users.
Live streaming is very popular among TikTok users, but not available to everyone. In this article you will learn about the main reasons why this feature is invisible to you.
1. Age restrictions
People under 16 cannot send private messages on TikTok, broadcast live, and videos shared by them do not appear in the "For You" section. Additionally, persons under the age of 18 may not send or receive gifts via Virtual Giving. Depending on the country and the laws in force, this age may be higher.
How does TikTok know how old I am?
The first step in setting up an account on the site is entering your date of birth. If we specify the wrong age, each subsequent attempt to increase it will not work - we will have to create an account from a new e-mail address. After successfully creating an account, TikTok adjusts the content to our age and hides individual functions including the TikTok Live button.
Can I change my age?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the age on an existing account. All we can do is set up new ones or wait until the required age is reached.
2. Small number of followers
The lack of the TikTok Live option may also be due to the insufficient popularity of the profile. Before TikTok makes this feature available to us, we need to have a minimum 1000 followers. In the older version of the application, there was a way to get around this limit using the Live tab in the analytical settings, but it is no longer possible. What we have left is trying to submit a ticket to TikTok Support with a request to enable live streaming in our application.
How to contact TikTok Support?
- Open the TikTok application.
- Click the Profile icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Open the menu in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select: Settings & Privacy, Report a Problem, LIVE, I can't start a LIVE.
- To the following questions: Did you manage to fix the problem? Reply: No.
- Select Need other help?
- Describe the problem, justify that you would like the LIVE option for your followers and click Send.
Summary
Consideration of your report may take a long time, and we will not always receive a response. The best way to get the live stream feature on TikTok is to reach the minimum age (16 years) and to post interesting videos, thanks to which we will quickly get 1000 followers. If you meet these requirements, then after clicking the middle button on the home screen you will also see the live stream function (next to Camera, Stories, MV). Remember to follow community rules with every live you make.
